Friends, I am so sorry for making you go around in circles, but really, I’m not going to be using FriendsterBlogs from now on. I mean, the only thing about it that interests me is its email update system. Those stuff you get in your mail saying "Casanova has updated his friendster blog" or something like that.

If you still want to read more of what I have to say, however, I’d like to invite you to
http://www.septembersummer.blogspot.com/ or  http://sandybeaple.multiply.com/

But really, if you’re reading this, I appreciate it :D

Surprise! :D

I’m back! After ages of being lost in the shadows of school work and blogspot, I’m back to Friendster blogs. Hurrah! Hail the Queen!

Actually, I realized I’d better blog here because it’s more convenient for me to post. Blogspot kasi has like so many twists and turns pa. I find it complicated to post an entry because of the overflowing features.

Besides, no one read my posts there. Except Ma’am G, of course.

So GUYS! What’s up? I haven’t read any blogs lately; I’m still trying to survive Math 100 and other oddities of the reality called college. Imagine my horror when, after hours of trying to work my Math homework, I went to class this morning and discovered my answers were wrong. Grrr. The injustice of it all.

But the irritation was worth it. I actually got to talk to RS after a long time of us not seeing each other. We listened to music, watched Gwen Stefani’s MTV for Cool (at least, that’s what I think the song’s called - I don’t know much about current events including happenings in the music industry) and waited for Kuya. We didn’t see him, by the way, because both of us had to leave - he had to get to Sir Montes’ class and I had to go beg my Math classmates for homework help.

I miss my Math seatmates, Powerpuff Six. I long for the day when we’ll go to Enchanted Kingdom together and puke after riding Anchors Away.

God bless everyone!

P.S.
When my mother saw my phone bill she nearly lost control of herself.
Because of this, I will be cutting my phone use and I will not be texting anyone except in case of extreme urgency.

I’m transferring to blogspot :D Thanks to all those who’ve been reading my entries tirelessly :D Love you guys :D

Too short to be a post? :D

I was supposed to just write this as a comment on my page but I realized I should just put it in my blog :D

Math 17 midterms got canceled today :( Grrr. We were halfway through the test when the profs called us off and told us the bloody exam was to be postponed. Sigh…..

But good news: I finally found Ma’am G’s blog. It’s at causticthoughts-gracemags.blogspot.com. Check it out :D

And you know, I’m going to buy a sim for my new unli phone. Well, it’s not new per se but since it’s new to me… well, you get my drift. It’s actually my mother’s but then she has a new phone so I asked for it. Long long long story. I’ll save it for some other time. :D

I’ve created a new account for the KHSeniors. Our new email address is khseniors07@yahoo.com.ph so please try to visit our friendster account. It’s so darn blank because my batch mates aren’t exactly known for being cooperative. :D But if you guys have got pics of us please submit it to us; we’d love to post it on our profile. :D

That’s all for now. :D I’ve been sitting on this chair for almost three hours and my butt is sore. Gotta go download anime pics from magitek-designs.net since I can’t download games and HP fan fics anyhow. :D

Toodles! Poof…

P.S. When I get to law school I might consider working as a DJ. I do have what it takes to yak all day long :D I just hope people would listen. Why, you ask? D’oh, am I supposed to rely on my parents to fund my way through law school? :D

The Study Wars

August 10th, 2007 by beingbeaple

Kuya Alvin, a Kalayaan resident adviser, told us this story about his ‘children’ from third floor last year. As a sort of incident for his guys to study, he tacked a map of Middle Earth in the corridor. The territories in that map were ‘prizes’ for The Study Wars to be held in their floor. The rules of the game are much complicated than what I’m about to say but basically, the more hours you pitch into studying, the higher the possibility of you getting a territory in Middle Earth.

The winners of The Study Wars went on to become honor students. University and college scholars with GWA’s (General Weighted Averages) of 1.77 or higher.

Pardon me, but I’ve tried studying for three hours straight and it doesn’t - probably never will - work for me. Bleergh.

Toodles! Poof…

BTW, if you’re reading this, please leave a comment. I’ve been writing so many entries that haven’t garnered even just a single reaction. :(

It’s ooopcat, not up-cat

August 5th, 2007 by beingbeaple

I underestimated the lure of UP Diliman.

Last year, as I was queuing in front of the testing center in CU, I realized a lot of people wanted to get an affordable education from a prestigious university. But it was only yesterday that I fully comprehended just HOW MANY students are half-desperate to get into UP. Last weekend, the campus was filled with vast crowds of people milling in front of testing areas, people waiting for their children or girlfriends and perhaps praying fervently that the money spent on review centers and MSA review books was worth it. It’s not the crowds that matter though.

What’s a test without the taker? Just thinking about the thousands of students worrying about their UPCAT performance amuses and worries me. It’s amusing because I can say stuff like "Don’t worry much, just watch out for the Science section" and "If it’s for you it will be yours" with conviction and sufficient reason. But I’m also worried because I know that out of the few who will be deemed ‘gifted enough’ to enter this school only a few will choose to study here.

Why? The tuition fee’s increased. I know we, the freshies ‘07, are paying more than the upperclassmen but I wasn’t able to compare the figures properly until I heard my third year socio classmate say he only paid six thou last enrollment. Like WHAT?!?!?! The lowest freshie tuition fee I know of is 17, 000+! Even I had to pay 20, 030.50 and that’s like the average rate!

And yeah, yeah, I know that compared to other schools this fee is MINUTE, but think about it: in one year, the tuition fee rises from 6K to 20K and this is supposedly state-subsidized. Screw the government for cutting their support for the academe.

I’ve forgotten my parents work for the government. Basically, the state still pays for my education. :(

On a lighter side, the two-day UPCAT fest (’cause UPD really was in festival mode last weekend) wreaked havoc in the Sunken Garden. Trash thrown EVERY WHERE and those portalets reeking like something worse than a millenium-old sewer. I wanted to walk around the acad oval last night so the girls and I went on an evening stroll. Halfway through our little escapade, one of my friends said she needed to pee and she couldn’t make it back to the dorm anymore. So we walked to Vinzon’s but then we found out the entrance to the CR was locked. We tried to seek refuge in the School of Economics Building and we actually got past the guard-less security post but then we discovered the CR was locked, too.

In desperation, someone suggested the garden. We ditched the idea almost immediately. Who would want to pee in the SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS FRONT YARD?

But my friend couldn’t take it anymore and I realized I couldn’t take it anymore, too, so we took turns ‘tinkling’, disregarding the bright lights that were illuminating the garden, which is, by the way, visible from the main road. God knows if the SE admin has hidden cameras stuck on the tree we peed on. But as my other friend said, "They can’t take it from you anyway."

So even though the tuition’s increased, UP is still the land of the free.

without geometry every thing would be pointless

I used to scoff at this sign on my friend’s shirt until I realized it was a pun. Oh well. :D

I lost my new umbrella this afternoon. :( It was purple, and it was under the seat beside mine in Math class. I forgot it was down there, and I left without it. :( When I went back after realizing I didn’t have it with me it wasn’t there no more. :(

And earlier, I had to muster enough confidence to just walk into DLRC (where they tutor students for FREE) and convince some of the volunteers to help me understand the bloody parabola. Like urgh, I feel asleep trying to solve it last night. :( About one hour, a dozen arguments and a couple of awkward moments later I finally understood the lesson. :D Thank God for the DLRC volunteers… I should bring them some Bavarian donuts some time…. :D

Math really does complicate a student’s life but it does have some perks. For example, if your prof was a cute 20-something then you’d really want to attend his classes just to see if he’s still wearing his favorite green sneakers, right? And while you’re walking home from the Math Dep’t you’d vow to yourself that someday you’d write a story where the main character’s name is the same as his? :D :D :D

My mom’s right. Sir Sanga was right. Math is beautiful. Finding the right answer after several arduous minutes of back-breaking, nerve-racking paper scratching and brow mopping really is satisfying. :D

Another Week Passes

July 27th, 2007 by beingbeaple

It’s been almost a week since I’ve laid hands on a computer with a net connection. See, last Saturday I claimed my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, set in reading the whole thing in one day and vowing not to surf the net for fear of spoilers. Obviously, I’ve read the book (it’s pretty swell, actually) so now I’m fearless! Bring out those spoilers! Waahahahahaha!

A lot of things have happened since then. Last Sunday Kol Aping, Kya Tres and Kya Butchoy toured me around Manila. We walked around Fort Santiago, rode a kalesa and did a lot of really cool things. :D But with happy news comes sad news and so I was forced to accept the reality that our team, Ocean’s 7 and soon to become Ocean’s 6, got 64/100 in our first exam, a team activity. But that’s life, I suppose. I refuse to say I’m dumb or anything because I know I’m not the only one having a tough time with acads. Although I doubt there are others who are four readings behind the discussion, leading to confusion in class and a sickness with sleepiness for symptoms.

I joined a march last Monday, by the way. On the day of the SONA, some UP students teamed up to march from AS or Palma Hall to Commonwealth, the venue for the SONA ng Bayan. A couple of my pals and I joined a bit of the pre-march fora and actually did a bit of walking, too. We only got as far as the checkpoint at the campus entrance though because we were too scared to join the upperclassmen as they ‘decried’ the president and her promises.

There is a liberating feeling that tingles through you as you hold a protest banner for the world to see your views and opinions. But I really would like to stay out of trouble and keep my promise to my mother ("Yes, I will not be an activist while I’m in school") so I really should push these sentiments to the side to make way for other priorities. There is a time for a revolution but that time is not now.

On a lighter note, we first floor girls had our first General Inspection yesternight. Ate Anjz, who’s an ex-PMAer, handles the inspection so you’d better clean every thing if you don’t want to be blacklisted for a violation. I mean, you wouldn’t want to have to clean the communal bathroom just for not cleaning your room’s window ledge, would you? But seriously, the GI made me panic. As head of the welfare committee, which is in charge of the floor’s cleanliness and its residents’ health, I feel it’s my responsibility to set a good example to others. So there, I cleaned like hell and nearly broke down because of it. After all, I’ve never cleaned an entire room before and I have no idea the difference clear and red floor wax makes. In other words, I’ve had no experience in cleaning and this nearly drove me over my cliff of sanity. Thank God I’ve got great friends who are great at making floors shine. :D

Right, so my left hand is all injured because I’ve done so much cleaning (honestly, I’ve acquired so many cuts and bruises just because I tried to clean a dorm room) and I’ve got more band-aids than I wish to keep. Alas, the reality of a Kalai dormer’s life. :D

Rau Le Creuset

July 14th, 2007 by beingbeaple

It would be a shame if I got his name wrong. He really is quite an interesting character because of his evil side. There’s something about him that intrigues you and makes you itch. Perhaps it’s because he’s so cruel and vile and those flaws fit his character perfectly. :D Kind of like Snape.

In Gundam SEED he said, "People only understand things they’ve experienced." Let that be the intro to my entry for this entry.

Yesterday, I did a very Rau Le Creuset-worthy thing. I was so exhausted and depressed and tired that I didn’t think of what I was saying or doing and I made the situation worse. I was so EVIL and now I feel guilty just thinking about it. But you know, I only started feeling guilty a few minutes ago, when I faced a situation similar to the only I was in yesterday. But this time I was in the losing side.

It’s a long confusing story that I will probably never share to anyone as long as I live, especially not to my children. It’s sad but it taught me a lot.

Bottom Line: People only understand things they’ve experienced. We must, therefore, never take ANYTHING for granted. :(

Where have all the bloggers gone?

July 11th, 2007 by beingbeaple

It sucks when you make an online group and no one joins it. It sucks more if people do join it but all the members are too occupied satisfying their own self-interest to care about the group as a whole. Sigh.

ANyway, where have all the bloggers gone? Has everybody gone on a blogging break or something? Or maybe fwenster’s going nuts and it’s stopped sending me blog alerts…. Hmmmm? So people who still read this blog, at least now you’re aware that I don’t check your blogs because I don’t know. Or maybe because it got lost amidst the ‘I’m tired, I’m tired’ thoughts in my crowded brain.

Speaking of tired, I am exhausted. We had cheerdance class yesterday (because in UP Wednesdays mean a) PE class, b) no class or c) scheduled exams) and the prof taught us to perform forward rolls and cartwheels. When I got into that class I couldn’t even lift my feet to imitate a cartwheel but after two hours of jumping jacks, stretching exercises and rolling on the floor I was finally able to execute something resembling a cartwheel. If it were a car I’d liken it to a prototype of Model T, which is THE prototype for all cars, because it lacks the right stuff, that so-called x-factor. Bah. Whatever. I’m just happy my feet flew off the ground; never mind the fact that they don’t fly straight. :D

I had loads of fun yesterday. My mum visited and she brought some dried mangoes, which I didn’t really like - but hey! We also joined this ”nosebleeding” quiz show (where the champion team gets PhP 15, 000 and I am so not joking) sponsored by the Beta Epsilon Fraternity and some other sponsors especially for freshies. We lost twice (consecutively, grrr) so we were out of the running. :( No worries though because I had a lot of fun. Besides, my roommate Pau is still in the game and her team hasn’t lost any of their games yet. Go Pau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But all the excitement yesterday has left me a bit disoriented and tired. There’s still so much I have to accomplish and I haven’t even started ’seriously’ studying for the Econ first long test this Saturday. "sob, sob" To think, I was so happy to have finished the first chapter of Mankiw’s Principles of Economics when Prof. de Dios announced earlier that we’re supposed to read chapters 1 to 7. NOSEBLEED. Losing blood, fast………………………………

Cramming never helps. Never. Never. A college student aspiring for that coveted UNO must think only of the stuff she MUST do.

So tell me, why am I thinking of the long lines in front of the ticket booths for Order of the Phoenix this Saturday????
